Dr. Joey Romero

Dr. Romero is a fellowship trained hip and knee replacement specialist with a particular expertise in robotic-assisted and AI enhanced joint replacement, including muscle sparing anterior hip replacement, quadriceps sparing sub-vastus knee replacement, partial knee replacement, arthroplasty in young active patients and short-stay rapid-recovery joint replacement.

Dr. Romero is a leader in the field of joint replacement serving on a US advisory board for robotics design and development. He leads surgeon education courses for advanced techniques in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery. He is also one a the few recipients of the prestigious Otto AuFranc International Hip Society Award.

Dr. Romero has pioneered a new technique in knee replacement that avoids cutting any muscle or tendons while incorporating the benefits of advanced robotics for custom surgical planning. This has lead to much quicker recovery than traditional knee replacement with a diminished need for opioids and assistive walking aids in the early post-operative period.

His practice is committed to providing operative and non-operative treatment plans that are tailored to each patients’ individual needs with a focus on relieving pain, restoring function and improving quality of life.
